Use a soft bristled brush to scrub down the surface. Avoid letting water set on the wood for too long as it may cause damage. Dry and keep dry. If the furniture appears free of mildew upon inspection then you can finish drying it.

Moisten a sponge with the solution and gently scrub the mold and mildew until it is gone. Use a spray bottle filled with vinegar and spray the mildew affected area. Fill a second bucket with plain clean water. Using a stiff bristle brush on wooden furniture could damage its finish.

Afterward wipe the wood clean with a damp towel. If the mildew persists you can try a vinegar solution instead. Spritz the affected areas with vinegar from a spray bottle and leave it to sit for about an hour. If your results are not satisfactory vinegar is a very effective mold killer.

Effective black mold cleaners 1 cup bleach mixed with one gallon of water 1 teaspoon tea tree oil and 1 cup of water 2 parts water mixed with 1 part hydrogen peroxide 1 cup borax mixed in one gallon of water pure distilled vinegar. Begin by mixing one gallon of water with cup of bleach in the bucket. Wash down sealed or painted wood if the mold has grown on painted wood like an interior door or a sealed wood finish like floors begin by washing down with a liquid dishwashing detergent and water solution. Allow the vinegar to sit for an hour or so before wiping down the area with a clean and damp cloth.

For best results move the furniture outside clean it as described with the bleach solution and then allow it to air.
